To date, the main activities of committees include the creation of terms of reference for each committee; ongoing community needs assessments; outreach to residents, development of workplans and budgets for committees and their projects. All together, this work will help create the Regent Park Community Plan. Once the Plan is complete, the committee ideas will become projects for agencies and residents to work on locally for the benefit of the entire Regent Park neighbourhood. Each committee is supported by a lead agency and in-kind resources from organizations within the community. Committees are responsible for meeting regularly, finding new people to get involved and coming up with new and innovative ideas for the neighbourhood. If you live in the neighbourhood, join a committee to have YOUR SAY in what YOU THINK Regent Park should be; share YOUR IDEAS and help make it happen!

Employment and Economic Development
Almost 50% of women, newcomer, and racialized residents in the Regent Park community do not have access to employment opportunities for various reasons. For some, their professional experience is not recognized in Canada. For others, barriers include language training, lack of childcare supports, skills development and pre-employment training opportunities. To break the cycle of un/underemployment, the employment and economic development committee works with residents, multiple levels of government, TCHC, local service providers and other groups to identify initiatives that will facilitate greater opportunities for employment of residents of the neighbourhood. Health and Safety
The health and safety committee seeks to identify strategies, initiatives and projects that will help create a safe and welcoming community environment for everyone. Some of these activities involve other groups or systems, including the police, TCHC, local organizations, external groups and partners. Some of this work also means working with local residents who may be at greater risk than others. For more information, or to join this committee, please click here
